Aboitiz Foods Champions Biosecurity in Latest Agriconnect Series

Sep 1, 2025

According to the World Organization for Animal Health, pork is one of the primary sources of animal proteins, representing over 35% of the global meat consumption. This highlights the importance of pork and its crucial role in the global food supply. However, unprecedented challenges, most notably African Swine Fever (ASF), have gravely impacted not only global supplies but also the livelihoods of livestock farmers.

These challenges became the primary focus of the recent episode of the Agriconnect webinar series, which provided farmers with an opportunity to connect directly with renowned experts in the swine industry. The session offered timely, science-based insights on critical topics, including ASF, biosecurity, and productive gilt management. Over 275 customers of Aboitiz Foods’ producer brands, Pilmico and Gold Coin, joined the hybrid webinar across five key markets: Vietnam, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

“More than just a provider, Aboitiz Foods strives to be a strategic partner—committed to standing beside our customers in both opportunities and challenges. By living our value of ‘Looking ahead to serve you better,’ we focus on empowering our partners with the right support and insights to build sustainable success in a rapidly evolving agribusiness industry,” said Joeben Gamatero, Vice President, Brand & Reputation Management for Agribusiness.

The series provided a comprehensive look at the state of the industry, with experts covering three critical topics. Dr. Le Van Phan presented an update on African Swine Fever outbreaks and vaccine development, sharing the latest insights on how to combat this urgent threat. Dr. Marlon L. Linatoc discussed the vital role of biosecurity in maintaining the health and productivity of swine herds. Finally, Dr. Gladwin Tibon Seńase offered actionable guidance on productive gilt management, which is crucial for establishing a strong and sustainable sow herd. The collaborative discussions and practical insights from these experts emphasized the importance of proactive and science-based strategies for farm resilience.

Building on this momentum, the second season of Agriconnect expanded its reach with the Aqua episode in June, followed by the Swine episode, which further highlighted Aboitiz Foods’ growing regional presence. The series blended the convenience of digital accessibility and in-person engagement, as Aboitiz Foods hosted live viewing sessions and post-webinar consultations across 13 different sites. Farmers and raisers welcomed the chance to engage with experts and requested more frequent, larger-scale events in the future.

Indonesia hosts a live viewing session for Gold Coin customers, bringing valuable insights and in-person collaboration to the table.

Agriconnect goes beyond the screen, creating a space where attendees can build meaningful relationships through direct, face-to-face interactions with sales and technical specialists from Pilmico and Gold Coin. These personalized consultations are crucial for understanding each customer’s unique challenges, enabling tailored, practical, and collaborative solutions.
