Frequently Asked Questions

Why is partnering with the Global Peace Foundation Malaysia integral to the program’s community impact?
GPFM provides essential on-the-ground access, community trust, and coordination capacity that Gold Coin as a feed company would not have independently. This partnership model – combining private sector resources with an established nonprofit’s community relationships – enables a livelihood program that is both practically effective and culturally sensitive to the needs of the Orang Asli people.

What activities were carried out by Gold Coin and GPFM between December 2023 and January 2024 under the second cycle of the program?
Team members from Gold Coin built new chicken coops and delivered feeds appropriate for chickens at different life stages within the Orang Asli community in Pahang. These hands-on activities ensured that families had the physical infrastructure and nutritional inputs needed to raise poultry as a sustainable income source.

What technical support is planned for the Orang Asli community in the months following the coop construction?
Gold Coin veterinarians will conduct technical seminars and workshops for the community, covering animal health management, proper poultry care practices, and farm maintenance. This knowledge transfer component is essential to ensuring that families can sustain their chicken farming operations independently over the long term.

How does Year 2 of the program build on the outcomes of the first cycle?
The second cycle expands the program’s reach to more families in the community, extending the model that proved successful in the first run. With the infrastructure and feeding components already refined, the second cycle is better positioned to focus on deepening technical competencies and scaling sustainable livelihood access across a broader group of beneficiaries.

Which UN Sustainable Development Goals does the Gold Coin-GPFM partnership directly support?
The program contributes to SDG Goal 1: No Poverty and SDG Goal 2: Zero Hunger. By equipping Orang Asli families with the means to generate income and produce their own food, the initiative directly addresses poverty and food insecurity within one of Malaysia’s most underserved indigenous communities.
