Validating and improving team readiness

The objective of the exercise was to validate and improve the team’s readiness to handle such emergencies and to ensure the safety of all stakeholders involved by testing internal and external coordination mechanisms and procedures. This included assessing response times from government units and evaluating the effectiveness of the emergency measures that Pilmico currently has in place.  The teams from Pilmico were composed of the Security Team, Health and Safety Team, Floor Marshals, Site HR teams, Flour Engineering Team, Fire Brigade Team, Internal Communications Team, Food Safety Committee, and Site Incident Management Team (SIMT).

Through the active participation and teamwork of Pilmico team members and LGUs, the simulation exercise in the Pilmico Iligan Plant became a huge success.

Iligan City’s K9 Unit Leader and Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS) Ricardo Librado III also left a reminder to all of the attendees, “Be wary of any suspicious package or unattended item, and follow the principle of ‘If You See Something, Say Something, Do Something,’ which includes making a call to the Philippine National Police.”

Affirming commitment to emergency preparedness

After the success of the exercise, both Pilmico and the LGUs have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the company’s future initiatives and activities aimed at enhancing safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and response capabilities.

The simulation exercise conducted in the Iligan facility was a crucial step towards ensuring the welfare of all stakeholders in the event of an emergency. It served as a vital avenue for assessing and refining the emergency preparedness measures and identifying potential areas for improvement. The collaboration and engagement of all stakeholders have undoubtedly strengthened the resilience, partnerships, and overall preparedness of the organization in Iligan. This activity is a crucial step in ensuring that the Iligan facility, including all its various stakeholders, is well-prepared to prioritize everyone’s safety and security should an emergency arise.
