Aboitiz Foods, through its subsidiary Pilmico, actively participated in the 2025 Resilient LGU Program Colloquium, which was held on March 17, 2025. Themed “From Surviving to Thriving: Transformative Strategies through Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships and Innovation,” the event provided a platform for local government units across the country to showcase their transformative strategies and resilience-building efforts.
The Aboitiz Foods team at the colloquium exemplified the collaborative spirit of this partnership, including Alexis Revantad (Vice President, Iligan Site Management and Flour Operation), Glenn Pinonggan (Risk Manager), Katrina Bayog-Mercado (Corporate Social Responsibility Manager), and Kristine Baguio (Admin Manager). They were also joined by key partners from the Iligan City LGU, including Armien Alloro (ICDRRMO Head), Roxanne Arevalo (Public Information Office), and Hasanor Toma (Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Staff).
Aboitiz Foods’ participation in the colloquium aligns with the Adopt-a-City program, an initiative that encourages the private sector to invest in an LGU’s resilience efforts. Their partnership with Iligan City, which began in 2022, has shifted from a conventional reactive disaster response and donorship to a more proactive and sustainable model. This partnership focused on long-term resilience planning, which they highlighted during the event.
One critical aspect of this collaboration is the formalization of the Iligan City Local Resilience Committee. This committee serves as the cornerstone of the city’s resilience strategy, ensuring alignment between policies, community initiatives, and local governance. Other milestones include the development of a comprehensive Climate Disaster Risk Assessment and the creation of a robust Local Climate Change Action Plan.
The colloquium also offered LGUs from various regions the opportunity to share their own resilience initiatives, emphasizing the transformative strategies and collaborative partnerships that are instrumental in cultivating sustainable and thriving communities. Aboitiz Foods’ active participation reaffirms its commitment to fostering resilient communities through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions, especially in Iligan City, where Pilmico has been a part of the community for over 60 years.
