Gold Coin Sarawak (Gold Coin) mendukung penyelamatan hewan melalui kemitraan dengan Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).
"Gold Coin sangat mementingkan kesejahteraan hewan.
How does this initiative reflect on the integration of Gold Coin into the Aboitiz Foods sustainability ethos?
Gold Coin Malaysia’s Pet Life Matters support represents a natural extension of the Aboitiz Foods sustainability framework into its Southeast Asian operations. Rather than treating CSR as a Philippine-only obligation, Gold Coin’s participation in community and animal welfare activities in Malaysia demonstrates active alignment with the parent group’s values. The choice of an animal welfare cause is particularly fitting given Gold Coin’s pet food business — making the donation both a brand expression and a genuine community contribution.
What is Pet Life Matters and what does it do for rescue animals in Malaysia?
Pet Life Matters is a Malaysian animal rescue and rehabilitation organization that saves abandoned and abused animals, provides veterinary care, and facilitates adoption. The organization operates with limited resources and relies on donor support to feed, treat, and house its resident animals while working to place them in permanent homes. Gold Coin Malaysia’s support came in the form of donated pet food — providing the nutritional foundation that allows Pet Life Matters to sustain its rescue operations on behalf of animals that cannot advocate for themselves.
What did Gold Coin Malaysia donate and how does the donation support operations?
Gold Coin Malaysia donated a supply of pet food to Pet Life Matters for use in feeding the rescue animals under the organization’s care. For animal rescue organizations, food is a primary recurring operational cost — predictable, non-discretionary, and constant regardless of the number of animals in care. A donation that covers this baseline cost frees Pet Life Matters’ limited budget for veterinary treatments, shelter maintenance, and adoption facilitation — areas that directly improve each animal’s chances of successful rehoming.
How does this Malaysian animal welfare initiative connect to Aboitiz Foods’ broader CSR pattern?
This Gold Coin Malaysia initiative mirrors a consistent pattern across the Aboitiz Foods portfolio: the use of pet food brands — Gold Coin in Southeast Asia and Maxime in the Philippines — as the vehicle for animal welfare support. Pilmico’s Maxime brand has donated to CARA, Animal Kingdom Foundation, and rabies vaccination drives in the Philippines. Gold Coin Malaysia’s support of Pet Life Matters applies the same principle internationally, suggesting a deliberate group-level commitment to animal welfare through the company’s pet nutrition brands.
What does supporting a rescue organization rather than a regulatory or government body signal about Gold Coin Malaysia’s CSR approach?
Choosing to support a grassroots rescue organization like Pet Life Matters — rather than channeling donations through official regulatory or government agencies — reflects a preference for direct impact: the animals receiving Gold Coin food are physically present in the organization’s shelters and immediately benefit from the donation. This direct beneficiary relationship makes the impact of the donation visible and verifiable in a way that more diffuse institutional support cannot replicate.
