From one generation to the next, these stories show how trust has is built—carefully, consistently, and over time.

Trust Built Over Decades: Lian Hong Inc.

Jason Sy is the third-generation Managing Director of Lian Hong Incorporated, a wholesale and retail trading company founded in 1927. What began as a small sari-sari store has grown into one of Iligan City’s trusted flour suppliers, while also operating its own grocery serving local customers.

“What’s important for us is customer satisfaction, that’s why we emphasize to our people that our customers should be completely satisfied when they get out of the door,” Jason shared. “With Aboitiz Foods, I feel empowered to run a better business and serve Iligan with pride,” he added.

As one of Pilmico’s exclusive distributors of flour and feed products in Northern Mindanao, Lian Hong reaches bakeries, restaurants, and retailers, helping the business grow while serving the community. “Our partnership with Aboitiz Foods has gone beyond business. There’s mutual respect, and we really help each other,” he added.

From Founder to Next-Gen Leader: Madelicious

Partners for decades. Pilmico Flour, Aboitiz Foods’ flour producer brand has been a consistent and reliable partner to Madelicious Foods Corporation since they started their business thirty years ago.

Jessica Alemania is the second-generation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Madelicious Foods Corporation, which operates bakeries across the Philippines.

The business began with her parents’ dream of opening their own bakery in Iligan City. Thirty years later, Madelicious is now available in various locations in the Philippines, with their daughter leading the operations.

For three decades, Pilmico has not only been their consistent flour supplier but also an industry partner that has helped shape Madelicious into the company it is today. “Pilmico is actually one of the first to give our bakers technical knowledge through their technical baking courses,” Jessica revealed.

“It really shaped how we streamlined our processes because now, we understand technical terms we couldn’t understand before. But with the help of the baking science training and technical know-how, our bakers became more confident,” she added.

Their partnership has grown stronger, thanks to the consistency of Pilmico Flour products. “Sun Moon Star, Gold Star, and Wooden Spoon are very consistent in quality all the time. That also helps us maintain the quality of our products and ensures that all our customers are always happy when they buy from us,” she said.

Starting Small, Growing with Trust: Gabu Meat Store

Gabs Cunanan, owner of Gabu Meat Shop grew his father’s meat business from selling one carcass a day to becoming one of Capas Public Market’s meat distributors.

In 2015, Gabs Cunanan continued his father’s meat business at the Capas Public Market. What began with selling one carcass a day gradually grew into a livelihood that now supplies other stalls in the market.

His business’s early years were far from easy. The family initially sourced carcasses from their own backyard farm until it was hit with African Swine Fever. Gabs recalled the struggles that followed—traveling to nearby provinces like Pampanga just to secure carcasses and enduring long days under the scorching heat, waiting in line behind trucks in his sidecar, with no certainty of supply.

It was during one of those difficult moments in 2018 when he was introduced to Pilmico.

“May lumapit sa aming taga-Pilmico at kinausap ako. Dati kasi bayad muna bago deliver, so paano ako magtitiwala, eh wala pa naman akong nakikitang baboy? Pero nagtiwala rin naman ako, at hindi ako nagkamali. Hanggang ngayon, tuloy-tuloy ang partnership namin sa Pilmico,” Gabs shared.

That decision marked a turning point. With a more reliable supply and a trusted partner, Gabs was able to stabilize his business and continue growing—proof that even for small, emerging enterprises, trust can make all the difference.

“With Aboitiz Foods, I was able to grow my small business and become known as a trusted meat vendor here in the Capas Public Market,” he added.
